501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization serving Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset counties on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore
Director's Message

Since 1971, WCDC has been a champion for adults with developmental disabilities, helping them become active, independent members of their communities. Today, WCDC is helping 90 disabled adults ages 21+ be active, independent citizens. Our client capacity could double after the new facility is built.

Our services are built around employment opportunities. Through work, WCDC clients become integrated within their communities. They learn new skills, experience personal fulfillment and achieve self-respect.

Our new operations base in Newark, Maryland will be a vibrant facility where clients are evaluated, trained and encouraged to pursue employment of their choice, both on-site and at jobs provided by regional business partners.

However serious the challenges that they face, we find that daily work, to the extent of their capabilities, provides each client with important structure and meaning for his or her life.

The WCDC mission is to empower developmentally challenged adults to make individual choices in how they live and workin their communities. We hope that you share our pride in the courage and fortitude that our clients demonstrateas they go about their lives, every single day.

Thank you for considering a generous gift to the “Brighter Future” campaign.

  With kind regards,
