SNOW HILL – (August 19, 2009) Under the direction of Helen Waters, Instructor/Choir Director, and Drenda Turner, Activities Coordinator, 26 choir members from the Worcester County Developmental Center, Inc. (WCDC) sang their hearts out to the seniors at the Charles & Martha Fulton Senior Center in Snow Hill. The singing program included twelve songs such as “This Little Light of Mine,” “You are My Sunshine,” and “The Whole World.” Many senior citizens were seen smiling, nodding their heads, and at times clapping their hands. At the end of the program there was time for fellowship with watermelon served by the Senior Center staff as a refreshing snack which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The WCDC Choir is one of many community activities that are being provided through the WCDC enrichment program. To inquire about scheduling a singing performance, interested parties can call Helen or Drenda at 410-632-2382. WCDC is a non-profit organization and has been assisting developmentally disabled adults since 1973. |

“They all love to sing and perform.” says Helen Waters. “They know they are not professional singers; but look at the determination and joy in their faces when they sing!” The choir is now practicing 2-3 times a week to prepare for approximately twelve upcoming performances. The holiday season especially will be busy with Christmas concerts with singing performances at the Harrison Hall Nursing Home in Snow Hill and other various community locations.
